Cebuana Pinoy Big Brother alumna Kai Montinola is set to sing the Filipino rendition of the Disney hit song “How Far I’ll Go” for the upcoming live-action adaptation of Moana this July 8.

Titled “Hangganan Ko,” the Tagalog version will be available on all digital streaming platforms starting July 3. Montinola will also perform the track live at SM Mall of Asia on July 8 and at SM Seaside Cebu on July 12. A music video for the song is set to follow featuring Montinola.

“Moana has long resonated with Filipino audiences through its themes of family, courage, and connection to the ocean. As a nation with a deep love for music, we’re thrilled to collaborate with Kai Montinola on the Tagalog version of ‘How Far I’ll Go,’” said Allie Benedicto, Marketing Director for Emerging Southeast Asia at The Walt Disney Company. “Kai embodies today’s young Filipinos who are full of grit yet filled with warmth, making her the perfect fit to sing ‘Hangganan Ko’ meant for today’s generation of Disney fans and movie-goers.”

For her end, Montinola said she drew inspiration from Moana’s journey in taking on the song.

“My favorite part of Moana’s journey is that she didn’t think she was perfect, she doubted at first, but she chose that fear. She chose to seize that fear, and there she was destined to do greater things,” Montinola said.

Montinola is the latest Filipino artist to lend her voice to a localized Moana song. Janella Salvador sang the Filipino version of “How Far I’ll Go” for the original 2016 animated film, while Belle Mariano performed the Filipino version of “Beyond,” titled “Anong Daratnan?”for 2024’s Moana 2.

Disney’s live-action “Moana” opens in Philippine cinemas on July 8.
