Baricuatro backs barangay projects with P3M aid

Gov. Pamela Baricuatro has distributed P3 million in financial assistance to 22 barangays across Cebu to support community projects and other local government initiatives.

Baricuatro personally turned over checks to barangay officials, with the funds intended for priority programs identified by each village.

Among the projects to be funded are socio-cultural activities and the purchase of equipment such as tables, chairs and tents.

One of the beneficiaries, Barangay Sanlagan in the municipality of Badian, received P250,000 in financial assistance from the provincial government.

Barangay Captain Marivic Villanueva said P200,000 of the allocation will be used to improve the barangay’s water supply system through the installation of a submersible water pump, while the remaining P50,000 will finance socio-cultural activities.

“Nagpasalamat gyud ko’g dako ni Governor Pamela Baricuatro kay natagaan gyud mi og P200,000 worth of infrastructure project para sa among submersible water pump para sa improvement sa among water supply system sa among barangay,” Villanueva said.

“Dako kaayo ni og tabang sa paghinay-hinay og tubag sa panginahanglan sa katawhan sa Sanlagan sa patubig,” she added.

Villanueva said the project will also allow the barangay to replace its aging water tank, helping improve the reliability of water distribution to upland communities.

She added that the upgraded system is expected to benefit households in far-flung areas as well as a local school that also depends on the barangay’s water supply.

According to the Provincial Government, a total of 28 checks worth between P50,000 and P250,000 were distributed during the activity.

The assistance benefited 22 barangays from four congressional districts in Cebu, including four barangays in the 3rd District, one barangay each in the 4th and 5th districts, and 16 barangays in the 7th District.

The financial assistance was released through the Office of the Governor as part of the provincial government’s support for barangay-level programs and projects.
