TALISAY CITY, Cebu — Classes at Talisay City Elementary School and Talisay City National High School were suspended on Monday, July 6, 2026, following an online threat targeting students.
Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas announced the class suspension as a precautionary measure while authorities investigate the incident and secure the school campuses.
According to the mayor, personnel from the SWAT team and the Philippine National Police have been deployed to assess the situation and ensure the safety of students, teachers, and school personnel.
The threat originated from a Facebook account using the name “Zane Bacalso,” which allegedly warned of a planned shooting at Talisay City National High School on Monday. The account also claimed the post was motivated by alleged bullying involving a younger sibling and included condolence messages directed at students. The post has since been deleted.
Mayor Gullas said he has coordinated with the Department of Education in Talisay City and the Talisay City Police Station to identify the individual responsible for the post.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident and urged the public to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and report any suspicious online activity to law enforcement.
