The Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Cebu collected more than P25 billion in revenues during the first half of 2026, exceeding its target by P448.7 million as District Collector Alexandra Yap-Lumontad prepares to move to a national post.
The Port of Cebu collected P25.007 billion from January to June, surpassing its cumulative target by P448.735 million.
For June alone, the port generated P4.750 billion in revenues, exceeding its monthly collection goal by P584.997 million.
The revenue performance came before Yap-Lumontad’s transfer to the BOC Financial Management Office, where she was promoted as Service Director.
Yap-Lumontad assumed leadership of the Port of Cebu in November 2025 before being appointed to the national position.
She credited the district’s performance to the collective efforts of its personnel, emphasizing that the gains were not achieved by one person alone.
“Every achievement we celebrated was never mine alone, it was the result of the dedication, integrity, and unwavering commitment of One Team Cebu,” Yap-Lumontad said.
During her term, the Port of Cebu implemented measures to improve customs operations, including streamlining procedures, enhancing cargo clearance efficiency, strengthening customs valuation and tariff classification processes, and improving compliance with customs laws and international standards.
The district also intensified its enforcement against smuggling activities.
The Port of Cebu seized 11 forty-foot containers and 25 twenty-foot containers containing illicit cigarettes valued at around P1.84 billion.
It also continued operations against shipments involving misdeclaration and undervaluation.
Beyond revenue collection and enforcement, the port strengthened coordination with businesses through regular stakeholder consultations and expanded partnerships with law enforcement and regulatory agencies to improve intelligence sharing and border protection.
The BOC said these initiatives helped the district maximize lawful collections while supporting legitimate trade activities.
The Port of Cebu credited Yap-Lumontad’s leadership for the district’s accomplishments, citing her focus on integrity, efficiency, and public service.
“These accomplishments reflect Collector Yap-Lumontad’s steadfast commitment to integrity, excellence, and public service,” the Port of Cebu said.
Yap-Lumontad is expected to assume her new role at the BOC Financial Management Office, where she will oversee efforts related to the bureau’s financial management initiatives at the national level.
