CEBU CITY — A 50-year-old woman was shot dead by unidentified riding-in-tandem gunmen in the early hours of Thursday, July 16, along B. Aranas Street in Barangay San Nicolas Proper, Cebu City.
The victim, identified only by the alias “Laila,” was attacked at around 2:00 a.m. Authorities said she sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. However, she was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.
Police have launched a manhunt to identify and arrest the suspects, who fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Investigators are also reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the area to establish the sequence of events and determine the identities of those involved.
As of this writing, authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the fatal shooting. The investigation remains ongoing.
