Mid-year Introspection: Ways on How You Can Reset Your Routines

At the start of the year, we list down the goals we want to accomplish, and most of the time, we immediately take actions to fulfill these personal priorities. However, we often focus too much on achieving those goals which results in the lack of self-care, such as insufficient sleep, rest and relaxation. That is why introspection and regular check-ins are essential — to avoid burnout.

Aside from evaluating our experiences and achievements during the end of the year, the middle of the year, particularly the month of July, is also one of the best times to pause and reflect on how far we have come.

Pausing and reflecting do not only mean assessing and reviewing what we have currently achieved so far; it also means recognizing and resetting our unhealthy habits.

Here are ways that can help you reset your daily routine that prioritizes your well-being.

Evaluating our household “ins and outs”.

Reviewing your household ins and outs for the rest of the year means being intentional about the things that you bring inside your home. This means that you should be wise in terms of your purchases, as well as avoiding keeping unnecessary items that take up some of your personal space. It also pertains to ensuring that every item you have has its own space for storage instead of letting your belongings pile up.

Reflecting on your household ins and outs will help you tidy up your own spaces that helps you feel lighter, comfortable and more productive.

Have some “me time”.

With everyone’s different responsibilities, long breaks are impossible. However, to avoid burnout and to give yourself some rest, small amounts of breaks are important. Allowing yourself to rest, relax and do outside work activities can help us recover from the work or school stress and burnout that we carry. Setting some time for yourself, even just for a day, will surely reduce your stress level and emotional burden.

To have your “me time” is to prioritize your physical and mental health.

Establish habits you can do consistently.

Try adapting habits for yourself to maintain consistency. The more we do things out of love or personal reasons, the more we stick to doing it than the things we do out of pressure and fear. That is why, we should engrave in our minds that resting is normal and essential in our lives to not feel any guilt for relaxing and to make it a regular habit.

You should adapt a positive mindset to self-care habits to practice it consistently for your well-being.

It is understandable that we want to achieve most of our goals by the end of the year. But, we should not forget to give ourselves a break. To pause and rest is to revitalize in order to be stronger when we are in the process of reaching our goals. Hence, we should do our mid-year resets to send us back to our tracks that reminds us to rest and take care of ourselves.
