Pag IBIG Fund releases P5.82B in emergency loans to over 800K members

Pag IBIG Fund has released P5.82 billion in financial assistance to more than 800,000 members through its Special Assistance for Financial Emergencies (SAFE) Loan less than six weeks after the program was launched.

In a statement on Thursday, Pag IBIG Fund said the program has provided assistance to 803,769 members since it opened on June 10, helping Filipino workers affected by financial challenges linked to continuing tensions in the Middle East.

Pag IBIG Fund Board of Trustees Chairperson Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling said members can rely on the agency for support as they manage financial obligations and provide for their families.

The SAFE Loan allows qualified active members with at least 12 monthly savings and no existing loan defaults to borrow up to P10,000 or 90 percent of their total Pag IBIG Regular Savings, whichever is lower.

The loan carries an annual interest rate of 5.95 percent and may be repaid over 12, 24, or 36 months.

Members are also given a three month grace period before repayment starts.

Pag IBIG Fund Chief Executive Officer Marilene Acosta said the high number of availments reflects the agency’s commitment to providing immediate financial support while continuing to help members achieve their long term goal of owning a home.

Members may apply for the SAFE Loan online through Virtual Pag IBIG by submitting the required documents or through any Pag IBIG Fund branch nationwide.

Approved loans are released directly to members’ Pag IBIG Loyalty Card Plus or Land Bank Cash Card.

The SAFE Loan application period will remain open until Sept. 8, 2026.
