The Mandaue City Council has posthumously recognized a 19-year-old volunteer firefighter and emergency responder for his dedication to public service following his death in a motorcycle crash earlier this month.
During its regular session on July 27, the City Council approved a resolution honoring Earl Alexis “Delta 1” Temblon for his commitment and contributions as a volunteer firefighter and emergency responder.
Authored by Councilor Carlo Fortuna and unanimously approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod, the resolution recognized Temblon’s efforts in responding to emergencies and assisting communities despite the risks involved.
Temblon was a member of the Ibabao-Estancia Fire Brigade and served as an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responder of the Opao Emergency Response Team.
The council said Temblon consistently responded to fire incidents, medical emergencies, and disaster operations, including situations that required responders to enter hazardous areas to help protect lives and property.
The resolution also cited his volunteerism, noting that he provided emergency services without expecting compensation or recognition and gained the respect of fellow members of the United Mandaue Fire Responders and the emergency response community.
The council described his passing as a loss to Mandaue City’s volunteer response sector, saying his dedication and service left a lasting impact on his family, fellow responders, and the community.
Temblon’s father, Earl Anthony Temblon, became emotional while accepting the recognition on behalf of the family and recalled his son’s commitment to volunteer work.
“Grabe gyud iyang dedication as a fire volunteer,” he said.
He said his son started volunteering at 16 years old while pursuing a criminology degree.
The family supported his interests, including sports, volunteer activities, and motorcycle riding.
“Bata pa kaayo akong anak pero namatay na. Lisod pagdawat pero unsaon nga nahitabo naman,” he said.
Temblon died in the early hours of July 9, 2026, after a motorcycle crash in Barangay Sabang, Danao City.
Meanwhile, the Danao City Police Office confirmed that Temblon’s death was caused by injuries sustained from the motorcycle accident, dismissing claims circulating online that he was stabbed.
Danao City Police Office chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Henrix Bancoleta said investigators reviewed CCTV footage and waited for the medico-legal findings before concluding the investigation.
Bancoleta said the autopsy showed that Temblon suffered severe blunt-force traumatic injuries to the head and trunk, including a vascular skull fracture, brain hemorrhage, and massive internal bleeding caused by abdominal injuries.
“Among gisubay ang CCTV, wala gyud mi nakita nga nadunggaban siya,” Bancoleta said.
“Wala gyud mi nakita nga gidunggab siya based sa among evidence nga among na-gather ug sa forensic report ug CCTVs nga among gisubay,” he added.
Based on CCTV footage, Bancoleta said Temblon was part of a group of about 10 motorcycle riders traveling northbound. Investigators found that the group was traveling at a high speed when they caught up with another rider.
Upon reaching Barangay Sabang, Temblon’s motorcycle collided with a slower-moving motorcycle, causing the fatal crash.
“Ang nakit-an namo sa CCTV, naa silay nakagitgitan nga usa ka rider, ug didto nahitabo ang disgrasya kay paspas man sad ilang dagan,” Bancoleta said.
He added that the impact of the collision caused Temblon’s fatal injuries.
His motorcycle later caught fire after fuel leaked and was ignited by electrical sparks.
No criminal charges have been filed in connection with the incident.
“Wala kay based sa among investigation ug evidence nga among nakuha, ang iyang pagkamatay is accident,” Bancoleta said.
