A P5,000 reward offered by Mandaue Mayor Thadeo “Jonkie” Ouano helped authorities identify a second person allegedly responsible for graffiti incidents in the city.
The latest suspect, identified only as “Roger,” 25, of Purok Ampalaya, Barangay Cambaro, allegedly wrote the word “SEEK” on walls and other structures in various parts of Mandaue.
According to the city government, an informant provided information that led to Roger’s identification.
Roger later voluntarily went to Ouano’s office, apologized and admitted responsibility for the vandalism, the city government said.
He also agreed to clean the areas where he allegedly left the graffiti and was given three days to complete the cleanup.
Failure to comply could result in the filing of a malicious mischief complaint, according to the city government.
Ouano earlier announced that he would personally give P5,000 to anyone who could provide information leading to the identification of individuals responsible for vandalism in Mandaue.
The mayor thanked the Allied Responders and Communicators of Cebu Inc. (ARCC) for helping identify the latest suspect.
The city government has been pursuing vandalism cases as officials seek to maintain and improve the appearance of public areas.
Roger is the second person identified in connection with vandalism cases under Ouano’s administration.
In June, a man from Barangay Guizo surrendered and admitted to spray-painting an area near the Cebu International Convention Center.
