A total of 139 residents of Lapu-Lapu City received P5,000 each in livelihood assistance from the city government, with P695,000 released for the program.
The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) distributed the assistance during an activity at the City Hall Atrium on Thursday, Aug. 13.
The beneficiaries included 54 senior citizens, 30 solo parents, 21 LGBTQIA members, four Aftercare Program beneficiaries and 30 indigent residents who applied through the walk-in process.
Each recipient received P5,000 under the city’s Livelihood Financial Assistance Program, which supports qualified residents seeking to start, sustain or improve income-generating activities.
The assistance forms part of the city’s sustainable microenterprise development program, which provides financial support for small livelihood projects.
Mayor Ma. Cynthia “Cindi” King-Chan encouraged the beneficiaries to use the assistance for livelihood activities that can generate income for their families.
The CSWDO handles the application and evaluation process for the program and facilitated the distribution of the funds.
Applicants are required to submit a Certificate of Indigency and Barangay Residency, voter’s verification certificate, government-issued identification, accomplished application form and a project proposal.
