Cebu’s growing running community is set for another major road race as organizers expect about 3,000 runners to take part in a new half marathon on Sept. 27 at Robinsons Galleria Cebu.
The event will bring together seasoned racers, recreational runners and beginners through four distances: 21K Half Marathon, 12K Challenge, 6K Run and 3K Fun Run.
More than the race itself, organizers said they want to create more opportunities for local runners, particularly grassroots athletes and running groups that continue to build Cebu’s road-running scene.
Israel D. Alin of the ALiN Group of Companies said they will provide race slots to runners’ groups and grassroots athletes as part of their support for the local running community.
The organizers also plan to hold community runs to give runners additional opportunities to train, meet other athletes and stay active beyond race day.
“We are hoping to hit at least 3,000,” said Mitone Rivera of Cargo Express, referring to the target turnout for the inaugural race.
Rivera said organizers want the event to contribute to the community over the long term rather than serve as a one-time activity.
The race, called the ALiN Move Half Marathon 2026, will offer registration fees of P699 for the 3K, P899 for the 6K, P1,199 for the 12K and P1,399 for the 21K under its app-exclusive rates.
Participants will receive an event shirt, finisher medal, finisher shirt and post-race meal, with registered runners also included in the event raffle.
The race will offer cash prizes to the top three male and female finishers in each distance. The 3K will award P5,000, P3,000 and P1,000, while the 6K will offer P7,000, P5,000 and P3,000.
For the 12K, the prizes are P10,000, P7,000 and P5,000. The 21K winners will receive P15,000, P10,000 and P7,000.
Organizers will also recognize winners in age categories and may add a best costume award.
Registration is available online and at participating cargo branches in Liloan, Danao, Consolacion, Mandaue, Talisay, Toledo and Cebu City.
Registered runners may pick up their race kits at designated branches or have them delivered to their homes without an additional delivery charge.
With the 3,000-runner target and planned community activities, organizers hope the Sept. 27 race will add momentum to Cebu’s expanding running calendar while giving local and grassroots athletes more chances to compete.
