PNP says 5% pay hike will boost police morale

The Philippine National Police (PNP) expects a 5% increase in the base pay of uniformed personnel next year to improve police morale as officers continue serving communities nationwide.

The PNP said the higher compensation recognizes the demands of police work and could encourage personnel to remain committed to their duties, according to a news release Sunday.

The Department of Budget and Management has earmarked P73.7 billion in 2027 for the subsistence requirements of military and uniformed personnel.

The government also allocated additional funding for salaries, personnel benefits, healthcare, equipment and other operating expenses.

The PNP has a proposed P242.5 billion budget for 2027 to cover its personnel and operational requirements.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the salary increase recognizes the service of police officers and the government’s continued support for their welfare.

“The increase in the salary of police officers is a fitting recognition of their selfless service to the Filipino people. We thank the national government for the continuous support that boosts the morale of police personnel who secure our communities,” Nartatez said.

The salary adjustment forms part of the government’s efforts to improve the welfare of uniformed personnel while strengthening their responsibility to provide professional and dedicated public service.
