Cebuanos secure top two spots in September 2026 civil engineering board exam

Two Cebuanos secured the top two spots in the September 2026 Civil Engineers Licensure Examination, with a graduate of the Cebu Institute of Technology–University (CIT-U) emerging as the national topnotcher.

Jude Bernard Villarba Miñoza of CIT-U ranked first with a rating of 93.95%, while John Lester Alonzo Ferrer of Cebu Technological University-Main Campus placed second with 93.70%, according to results released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on Oct. 2.

Miñoza led Ferrer by 0.25 percentage point in the nationwide examination.

The two Cebu-based examinees were among the 6,337 passers out of 17,062 who took the latest civil engineering licensure examination, for a national passing rate of 37.14%.

Ericson Sanchez Abalos of the University of Pangasinan ranked third with 93.55%, followed by Karl Christopher Daluz Famador of FEU Institute of Technology with 93.35%.

Marc Nelson Posadas Rosario of the University of Pangasinan placed fifth with 93.05%.

Three examinees tied for sixth place with ratings of 92.35%: Josh Vincent Aguinaldo Contaw e of Mapúa University-Manila, Clement Paul Susada Dacuscus of Notre Dame of Kidapawan College, and Marc Victor Viernes Sales of the University of the Philippines-Los Baños.

John Paul Bacani de Guzman of Pangasinan State University-Urdaneta and Shawn Clifford Magno Murillo of Surigao del Norte State University-Main tied for ninth place with 92.25%.

Jesse Steven Yu Gaw of De La Salle University-Manila ranked ninth with 92.00%, while John Alan Antonio Tan, also of De La Salle University-Manila, ranked 10th with 91.95%.

The September 2026 Civil Engineers Licensure Examination was administered by the PRC Board of Civil Engineering in 19 testing centers nationwide.

The PRC said the results were released five working days after the last day of the examination. It also reported that the results of eight examinees were withheld pending final determination of their liabilities under the rules governing licensure examinations.

Successful examinees may begin online registration for the issuance of their Professional Identification Cards and Certificates of Registration on Nov. 11, 2026.

The PRC said the date and venue of the oathtaking ceremony for the new civil engineers will be announced separately.
