A direct sea connection between Cebu City and Santa Fe, Bantayan is being explored, potentially giving travelers a more convenient way to reach the popular island destination.
Proposals for the direct route have reportedly been presented to major shipping companies in the province. If pursued, the service could provide an alternative to the current journey, which involves a roughly four-hour land trip from Cebu City to Hagnaya Port in northern Cebu, followed by a sea voyage to Santa Fe.
While the proposed Cebu City–Bantayan route is still being explored, a shipping company is also planning to launch a pilot fast-craft service between Hagnaya in Medellin and Santa Fe, with a target travel time of just 20 to 30 minutes.
The proposed services could make travel to Bantayan more convenient for both local travelers and tourists, particularly during peak vacation periods.
For now, travelers will have to wait for further developments as the proposed routes and fast-craft service move forward.
