The Philippine National Police (PNP) imposed administrative penalties on 2,719 personnel in cases resolved from Jan. 1 to Sept. 30, 2026, including the dismissal of 713 officers and other personnel from the service, as the organization sought to strengthen discipline and accountability within its ranks.
The penalties covered a range of administrative sanctions, from reprimands and restrictions to suspension, demotion and dismissal, according to the PNP under the leadership of Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr.
Of the 2,719 personnel sanctioned, 1,324 were suspended, the largest group among those penalized. Another 713 were dismissed from the service, while 437 received reprimands.
The PNP also demoted 112 personnel, imposed forfeiture of salary on 59, placed 22 under restriction and withheld the privileges of 52 others.
The PNP said the actions reflected its commitment to addressing administrative violations through established procedures and reinforcing professional standards among its personnel.
Nartatez stressed that maintaining public trust requires the police organization to hold its own personnel accountable for violations while ensuring that administrative proceedings follow due process.
“Kung gusto nating pagkatiwalaan tayo ng publiko, kailangan magsimula iyon sa loob ng ating organisasyon. We have rules and standards for a reason, and we must apply them fairly and consistently. Kapag may pagkukulang o paglabag, kailangang tugunan ito sa tamang proseso. That is part of being accountable to the people we serve,” Nartatez said.
He said the enforcement of rules and standards within the organization was essential to ensuring that police personnel remained accountable to the public they serve.
The PNP said its disciplinary efforts align with its Focused Agenda, particularly the Integrity Monitoring initiative, which emphasizes ethical conduct and accountability within the organization.
The police organization also cited its zero-tolerance policy for administrative violations as part of its effort to uphold discipline and professionalism among its personnel.
The sanctions imposed from January to September form part of the PNP’s efforts to address violations within its ranks and reinforce the standards expected of those entrusted with public service.
The PNP said it would continue strengthening internal discipline, promoting professionalism and ensuring that accountability remained an essential part of police service.
