Alex Eala climbs to career-high No. 17 in WTA rankings

Filipina tennis star Alexandra “Alex” Eala has reached another career milestone, climbing to No. 17 in the latest Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) singles rankings released Monday, Nov. 2.

The 21-year-old rose two places from No. 19 to surpass her previous career-best ranking of No. 18, achieved another step up in her professional tennis career ahead of her final WTA tournament for the year.

Her latest ranking improvement followed a quarterfinal appearance at the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo, Japan, where she defeated Mika Stojsavljevic and Talia Gibson in the first two rounds before losing to Russia’s Diana Shnaider in the quarterfinals.

Eala’s performance in Japan helped her recover from a string of early tournament exits during the Asian swing, including the Singapore Open, Wuhan Open and Ningbo Open.

She is set to open her campaign at the WTA 250 Hong Kong Open on Tuesday, Nov. 3, facing American player Alycia Parks in the Round of 32.

The two players have split their previous meetings, with Parks winning their encounter at the Australian Open before Eala secured a victory over the American at the Canadian Open.

Eala will seek to close her 2026 WTA season with another strong performance as she continues her rise among the world’s top-ranked women’s tennis players.
