The Cebu City Government will conduct an intensive information dissemination campaign on its Waste Segregation Program from January 1 to 15, 2026, to reinforce solid waste management across all barangays.
The initiative, proposed by Mayor Nestor Archival during the Solid Waste Management Board meeting on December 26, 2025, will focus on educating the public, particularly in schools, through assigned information teams, radio campaigns, and coordination with barangay officials.
Enforcement of the program will follow from January 16 to 30, 2026, with Barangay Enforcement Officers tasked to issue citation tickets to violators. The mayor also directed the deployment of dedicated trucks for waste collection in schools and ordered CCENRO teams to visit all 115 schools for orientations and compliance checks.
Mayor Archival emphasized the vital role of schools and barangays in ensuring the program’s success, noting that garbage will not be collected if it is not properly segregated.
The city government aims to institutionalize proper waste segregation through sustained education, barangay cooperation, and strict enforcement.
