A local artist from Jones Avenue has set up a makeshift sidewalk gallery near Colon Street, offering his paintings to passersby for as low as P150.
Tatay William Avila said he opened his temporary display on Sunday, January 4, 2025, hoping to attract customers.
He shared that a basic painting priced at P150 usually takes him about 20 minutes to finish.
Other artworks, including pieces painted on bilao used as canvas, are sold for P250.
Larger and more detailed works are priced higher depending on the design, with one of his eight-horse artworks priced at P2,000.
With the Sinulog Festival approaching, Avila hopes the increase in foot traffic near Colon Street will help him sell more of his works and sustain his livelihood through art.
His mini gallery is currently located near McDonald’s Colon, fronting Novo.
