The Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) of Mandaue City has intensified its inspections of business establishments, conducting nightly monitoring to ensure orderly and safe operations during the Sinulog festivities.
BPLO head Atty. August Lizer Malate said the inspections focus on bars, recreational areas, and other establishments located in high-traffic zones, where large crowds are expected during the religious celebration.
The move aims to prevent safety, security, and traffic-related concerns.
Malate emphasized that businesses planning special events must secure the required special permits to avoid operating beyond their approved business areas, particularly when activities extend to public roads.
He said these permits are essential in helping authorities manage crowd control, traffic flow, and peace and order.
Inspections are being conducted during both daytime and nighttime hours in areas such as the North Reclamation Area and along A.S. Fortuna Street. Monitoring will continue until Saturday, January 17.
Some establishments, Malate noted, have proactively coordinated with barangay officials and the Philippine National Police to help ensure safety and proper traffic management during their activities.
He warned that establishments found violating regulations related to public safety, public health, or business jurisdiction may be issued show-cause orders and could face suspension or possible revocation of their business permits.
The BPLO said it will continue its monitoring activities throughout the Sinulog week to help ensure the safety and welfare of the public. (VCL)
