Stroll through Colon’s modest, busy streets, shopping malls, supermarkets, restaurants, and stores on both sides of the road. It is the main thoroughfare in Cebu’s historic center that is indeed a Cebuano Pride!

Colon has far more historical significance in the Philippines than most people realize. It is thought to be the country’s oldest street. The roadway was built as part of the Villa de San Miguel or St. Michael’s Town, Cebu’s first Spanish town. It was named after Cristóbal Colón, the Spanish version of Christopher Columbus, who is an Italian explorer credited with discovering the “New World.”

The streetscape is a little run-down. It’s a crowded urban boulevard. You can come here to relive the glory days of Cebu’s old city that many Cebuanos associate with personal memories!
