PBB URBAN LEGEND: A captivating local legend about a mysterious woman named Carmen Rubia has been passed down through generations in the municipality of Ronda, leaving both residents and visitors spellbound by tales of her supernatural appearances.
According to stories from the 1990s-2000s, a man from Bohol once traveled to Ronda to visit a beautiful woman he had met. When he asked where she lived, she replied she resided in a large house across from the town church. However, when he arrived in Ronda, he found only a large Acacia tree standing where the house should have been.
Other eerie accounts describe her mysterious manifestations. She is sometimes seen riding a Librando Bus, only to have the vehicle stop under the very same Acacia tree. A tricycle driver also recounted picking up a woman carrying large rice cakes (“bingka”), only to have her vanish into thin air, leaving the cakes behind.
Elders in Ronda say this mysterious woman only appears to non-locals. The legend of Carmen Rubia remains one of Ronda’s most enduring mysteries, a supernatural story that continues to captivate the imagination of the town’s residents to this day.
